or, How Ya Like Me Now

The pic links to a big honkin copy. Take a gander.

The others just go to the stream, as per flickr's terms of service.

I found some new plants around the corner from my place. This one's long, and reminds me of a christmas cactus. It's growing pretty fast now.

And here are a few nice closeups of Spiderwort buds.

sshh. that one pops fullscreen if you click it...

Made some tasty chicken wraps the other night. Start with garlic and green onions sauteein in olive oil. Then cook your chicken, marinated in whatever was handy that morning. When the chicken's close to done, add the bell peppers, keeping the heat at about medium-high, sizzlin. This is right about where you finish you beer/glass of wine/highball/fifth of gin, so you grab another. When you return you find the bell peppers are just about beginning to limpen so you toss in some chopped cilantro and backyard garden fresh oregano, maybe a few extra green onions, and you'd have something very similar to the steaming pan above. Roll it in a big tortilla with some grated cheese, some hot sauce, and voila!

And.

If you like tortilla chips, these are indeed miraculous. I'm done, I need some chips...

Ok, I'm back, and I decided to add this comparison to show how quickly the spiderwort is growing.

As I retrieved today's paper, I looked up and waved at the tan humvee passing by. I've seen the Guard in my 'hood before, along St. Claude and Elysian Fields but this is the first time I've seen troops on my tiny one-way street in the Marigny. Glad to have y'all back.

040.1 Meowskers Update

I found out through a flickrite who is also in animal rescue that its most likely a she, since its a calico, or tortoise shell colored thing, which I learned through wikipedia because it is a sex linked trait.

Then the other night I run into her and she's wearing a collar. I feel so rejected. Not. The damn thing keeps getting into my trash. Filthy animals.

He showed up late on the 5th of July, after I returned from an encounter with Lawrence the Secret Service agent at d.b.a. The Wolfman played a great set, but that's not the point. Mr. Meowskers, the meowingest little kitty I have ever met, has adopted me.

He lives in the water heater shed, which adjoins the underside of my house. I showed the meowy little video I took of him on my digital camera to the folks at work, and they made me promise to feed the little scamp if he was still there last night. He was. So he got an old Philly tub full of Starkist.

This morning in the paper I noticed Nascar driver Ryan Newman is bringing his mobile spay trailer, the "Big Fix Rig" for a pit stop in St. Bernard, cats are free, you just have to call for an appointment.

He's still outside this morning. Thus begins another tail from the Marigny.

postscript
Lawrence the Secret Service agent was likely a flunkie, a decoy to distract by generating a buzz. Lawrence would only tell me he was there for a "guest to arrive later" and he was pretty nice to me, other than being tight lipped. I caught him offguard by knowing what an IFB is, that was my icebreaker. I overheard d.b.a.'s manager talking like there were some VIP's at the Tim/Faith extravaganza that night who may make an appearance, and Lawrence did ask me abot dance clubs, to which I replied, "on a Wednesday night, you've probably got to go down to Bourbon."
